Reading is a performance piece conceived for the Bibliothèque Publique d’Information (Public Information Library) of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. It is a living allegory of the individual and collective activity of reading that characterizes the library. The piece is interpreted by the ordinary occupants of the reading halls: students, researchers, self-taught and curious individuals…Every 15 minutes they simultaneously reveal 30 seconds of what they have been reading to themselves before reestablishing, as suddenly as they have broken it, the strictly required silence of the premises.
