This text is the fictitious application file of the Purgatoire project as sent to “the public cultural Institution” in 2005, a.k.a. two years before the show was created. It examines the political and aesthetic stakes of this endeavor of general purgation. Among other things, it notably makes the promise of “evacuating spectators’ extra futility,” “cleansing the collective unconscious,” “checking the meaning of History,” and to once and for all settle “the question regarding the legitimacy of rich people”.
