The choir of the Encyclopédie performs a repertory made up of documents from the audio archive of the Encyclopédie de la parole. Throughout the recital, the formal structure of the chosen excerpts is highlighted via the synchronous multiplication of voices. This builds up a dense cloud of speech, with changing outlines, making it possible to experiment with such an original format as the spoken vocal ensemble. The choir’s composition is variable: it is initially constituted of the Encyclopédie’s members, and for each performance, ten to twenty additional temporary participants become involved after being trained through workshops.
